President's Events
ASM Lecture
Dr. Lucy Shapiro, Stanford University School of Medicine, will present the ASM Lecture. Her talk is entitled "The Bacterial Cell Cycle: A Regulatory Circuit under Temporal and Spatial Control." The session will be held in the Seaport Exhibition Center which about two blocks away from of the Boston Convention and Exposition Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. on June 1. The ASM Lecuture will be preceded by two talks. The first will be by Dr. Tim Donohue from the University of Wisconsin and titled "From Sunlight to Renewable Energy - Harnessing Photosynthetic Bacteria." The second will be given by Dr. Rino Rappuoli from Novartis Vaccines and titled "Pan-Genomic Approaches for the Discovery of Vaccine and Antimicrobial Targets." A reception will follow.
President's Forum
The Forum is entitled "Pathogenic Mechanisms for Avoidance of Host Recognition." Dr. Stanley M. Lemon, Univ. of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX, Dr. James H. McKerrow. Univ. of California, San Francisco, CA and Dr. Philippe J. Sansonetti, Institut Pasteur, Paris, FRANCE, will join Dr. Houston on the stage. The Forum will be held on Tuesday, June 3 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Room 253A of the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

The General Membership Meeting and Outgoing Officer Awards Presentation will be held on Tuesday, June 3 starting at 11:45 a.m.
