Whenever possible, yes. Contact information is only collected for the submitter and the presenting author. ASM prefers to correspond with the individual who will actually be presenting the abstract, if accepted. This policy ensures that the presenter knows when and where to present the abstract. collapse
Yes. If you and your co-authors come from more than one affiliation, be sure to type common affiliations in exactly the same manner. Take time to review the author block when displayed to see if the correct number of affiliations is displayed. collapse
We recommend that you prepare and save your abstract file in your word processor before going to the OASIS web page. Once at the web page, fill out the category, authors, affiliations, presenting author information, etc. Attach your abstract as a word processing file when directed. You may also print a copy of your submission while on the web site using the link available. collapse
If possible use a universal “True Type” font such as Times or Arial. Avoid use of fonts specific to the word processing program you use. This is particularly true for symbols as some character sets in use do not translate well resulting in lost information. Point size is not critical since all submissions will be similarly formatted for publication. collapse
The Abstract Submission system will provide a tracking number as soon as you complete the affirmations and provide a title for your abstract. As you complete individual steps in the process, the system will display the results. At the end of the process, a final summary page will be immediately displayed showing all information successfully received.
You may edit your abstract until January 18, 2008. After that, no further changes are allowed. collapse
No. Abstracts are sent to review committees in January and disposition letters will be posted on a dedicated OASIS website on February 20, 2008. A notification email will be sent from asmgm@abstractsonline.com to the presenting author of record. collapse
No, abstract rejections are final. If you prepare an abstract that follows the rules and guidelines for submission, then your abstract stands an excellent chance of being accepted. If you do not follow the rules and guidelines, it will be rejected. collapse
Click on the "Travel Grant Requested" field when asked. You also must be an ASM Member as well as the submitter and the presenting author of the abstract. collapse
The deadline for receipt of letters is January 17, 2008. Original documents are preferred but letters may be faxed to 202-942-9340. The letter should be addressed to the Meetings Department at ASM, 1752 N Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036-2904 collapse
To withdraw your abstract without incurring a penalty, you must do so by February 20, 2008. You can withdraw your abstract by sending an e-mail (which will be acknowledged), fax, or letter to the ASM Meetings Department. collapse
For a meeting of this size, it would be impossible for the Committee to consider special scheduling concerns; therefore the General Meeting Program Committee has ruled that each presenter may present only one abstract at the General Meeting. An individual should never be listed as the presenting author on more than one abstract. collapse
